“It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.”—~Thomas Sewell
Today was an amazing day for so many reasons. Simply the best. I need more days like today.
I woke up this morning to my favorite kind of weather (rain) to compete at the Model UN tryout conference with other William & Mary freshmen. I was placed into the most advanced of the three committees, along with fellow TJ 2011 grads Zack Perconti and Serena, and I completely wrecked. Even though I did absolutely zero research and hadn’t the faintest idea of what my position was before committee began, I still did well enough that the chair pulled me aside afterwards (Along with Zack and two others from the committee) to tell us that we’d really stood out. She then encouraged us to definitely apply for leadership positions and slots at their upcoming conferences. Huzzah. I love Model UN. Arguing, winning, looking sharp in a black dress shirt with rolled up sleeves, generally being confident and swaggerful. Is that a word? Not sure.
Anyway, after MUN we went out for some brunch at Sadler (By the way, MUN said they’d provide me with breakfast and all I got was one doughnut roll, wtf). When we got there, I happened to see that certain girl from our hall in line for omelets, and despite the fact that I didn’t have the slightest desire for an omelet, I got in line behind her and eventually managed to start a conversation. :D She was really nice and I was completely thrilled that I finally met her and got to talk to her. Yayy. She seemed to think it was funny that I was in CSO’s play when she wasn’t.. Hehe.
So that was pretty much the highlight of my day/week.
Oh yeah and I sat next to her at dinner.
In addition to that, the entire day I was in a really good mood and I was completely on fire in everything I attempted. From pool to poker, I was winning consistently all day. I even challenged Soon to a game of Starcraft (usually a ludicrous prospect) and immediately won two games handily. :D
And William & Mary won our first home football game, bringing our overall record up to 2-1.
